Orbis Helps Concordia U. Portland Expand Accelerated Nursing Program Capacity

Oregon’s State Board of Nursing approved expanded capacity – from 48 to 72 student enrollments each term – in Concordia University-Portland’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program, supported by Orbis Education. The expansion benefits students, employers and Oregon by generating more nursing graduates.

“Concordia’s collaboration with Orbis has allowed us to expand our highly competitive nursing program, thereby helping healthcare employers meet the growing demand for nurses,” said Shawn Daley, Concordia’s chief business development officer.

Concordia launched its 16-month ABSN program in 2016, in collaboration with Orbis. Since then, the program’s success has been evident through the 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam achieved by the first cohort to graduate in May 2018.

The program fast tracks students who have completed their general education requirements and nursing prerequisites into the nursing profession. It delivers a high-quality, clinically intensive nursing education in a short amount of time through a blend of online learning, practical application in a simulation lab, and in-hospital clinical rotations at top healthcare facilities throughout the Portland area.
